Today at Inprosec Human Capital we introduce you to Víctor Menéndez, SAP & GRC consultant.

What is your function within Inprosec?

I am a SAP & GRC Security Consultant.

What would you highlight about your role in the company?

It is very oriented to the external client and gives you the opportunity to add a lot of value by improving their level of security. Right now we are working on several security services for large clients that form an essential part of their operations; we have the duty to guarantee an effective response while ensuring that security policies are complied with.

What has Inprosec meant to your professional career?

Professionally, it has allowed me to train in a very specific area such as SAP security consulting, but what I value most are all the skills it has given me. I have learned to maintain a high standard of quality, in an organized and efficient way, and it has even improved my own personal confidence.

How do you manage to reconcile your personal and professional life?

Flextime helps a lot in this regard. Especially now in the pandemic situation, with telecommuting and flexibility, I can reconcile both facets without either being affected.

Tell us an anecdote that has caught your attention at some stage in Inprosec.

When you work in security you see a little bit of everything. The post-it with the password is very common, but I have seen passwords laminated and well secured to the wall, with the intention of keeping them there for years. If you don’t leave your house keys at the door, it is also not advisable to leave passwords in plain sight. Today there are many secure solutions that have no impact on your operations.

What do you value most about working for a company like Inprosec?

I could not focus on just one thing, there are many aspects that I value equally. The first is that it is very aware of employee training; Inprosec wants you to train and improve as a professional, which is very positive because it is something you will always carry with you. The second thing is the work climate and the atmosphere in the company. In general, it is very easy to fit in and the culture of teamwork and mutual support is very widespread.

As an employee of a company that specializes in cybersecurity, what is your advice to any entrepreneur who is starting out with respect to their systems?

If you are just starting out you are in luck, because you will have the opportunity to take security into account from the design phase of your business. Securing a system that is already implemented is much more expensive and will give worse results than taking these aspects into account from the beginning. On the other hand, there is a false conception of security as a stopper in the business, when the opposite is true. Security brings value from the beginning, not only by mitigating risks (to which no one is immune), but also by providing a higher level of organization that will make all business processes run much more smoothly.

What are your hobbies at the end of the working day?

Many and varied. Skating around town, skiing in winter, strategy games, reading a good book, traveling when I get the chance. Right now I limit myself to skating and reading The Art of War.

Who do you “nominate” to interview next and why?

Miguel Fonte, because we work side by side on several projects and I’m curious about your answers 😊.
