Today at Inprosec Human Capital we present to you Alba Ramos, industrial cyber security consultant among many other functions.

What is your function within Inprosec?

For a little over two years I have been working for Inprosec’s division dedicated to cybersecurity in industry, InprOTech, as an industrial cybersecurity consultant, carrying out audit and consultancy projects based on different standards such as NIST SP800-82 and VDA-ISA. In addition, internally I have participated in R+D tasks, in the development of solutions that allow companies to increase their level of security. On the other hand, I have recently taken on the role of project management.

What would you highlight about your role in the company?

The most remarkable aspect of my work is the role of consultant, since it forces me to be in continuous learning due to the nature of this world of cyber security and the complexity of industrial environments.

What has Inprosec meant to your professional career?

Inprosec has given me the opportunity to specialize in a new and highly demanded sector such as cyber security applied to industrial technologies, allowing me to train from scratch since, although it is not my job, it has been my first contact with cyber security.

How do you manage to reconcile your personal and professional life?

Inprosec greatly facilitates the conciliation of personal and professional life as it has flexible time policies in addition to having Friday afternoons off.

Tell us an anecdote that has caught your attention at some stage in Inprosec.

The first day I entered Inprosec I had to go to an event where we presented the company among other startups, for which a colleague had arranged to come and pick me up to go to the event. I waited for half an hour thinking that he had forgotten about me since I was unable to contact him. As it turned out, he hadn’t forgotten, he’d just let the cat out of the bag. Of course the event, we’re late.

What do you value most about working for a company like Inprosec?

What I value most is the good working atmosphere that exists among all colleagues, encouraged in large part by the fact that the company itself organizes group activities on a regular basis. Another highlight is the support offered by Inprosec when it comes to training, including the possibility of combining studies and work.

As an employee of a company that specializes in cybersecurity, what is your advice to any entrepreneur who is starting out with respect to their systems?

Cybersecurity should be taken as a long-distance race in which many aspects must be considered from the beginning of a project. From my point of view, the first step is to train and raise awareness among all those involved in this project, since the employee represents the weakest link and, once the users have been trained and made aware of good practices in cyber security, to continue with a strategic plan aligned with our company’s objectives.

What are your hobbies at the end of the working day?

One of my main hobbies is music and travelling, so whenever I can I try to combine both by escaping to some music festival. Besides, I also play the guitar. Apart from music, I watch TV series everyday.

Who do you “nominate” to interview next and why?

I nominate Uxío Fernández Hermo, a great colleague and professional in the SAP department, who I am sure will be of great value in your interview.
